The gunman involved in the police shooting in Dallas has been identified as 25 year old Micah X. Johnson, 25 a resident of Dallas. It has been reported that Johnson is either a current or former private first class with the U.S. Army Reserves. It has been unconfirmed that he was connected to the 284th Engineering Company, 961st Engineering Battalion based out of Seagoville, TX.
Johnson has no ties to terror groups or even a criminal history. “He wanted to kill officers. And he expressed killing white people, killing white officers, he expressed anger for Black Lives Matter,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said during a press conference. Chief Brown also stated that the suspect claimed the police would find I.E.Ds.
Johnson was killed when Dallas police detonated a robot operated bomb around 2:30am on Friday morning. Police were hesitant to send other officers in harms way because of the statements regarding IED placement. There are 3 others in custody surrounding this situation and Fort Meade Daily will bring more information as it becomes available.
